When you're an Indian child, every woman who is not your mother, grandmother is either a sister, or an Aunty.
Sure, there's uncle's too, and brothers. But mostly, there are Auntys.
And there will always be Aunty stories.
Always.
First, let's explain the whole situation, which probably goes something like this.
You, are you, an Indian child just lounging around and minding your own business. Now comes this family that is remotely familiar from some function eons ago. The father is instantly without hesitation greeted with a "hello uncle!" and the mother too, with a "hello Aunty!" The kids nod at each other, if you're the oldest there by more than a couple years, without doubt you will quickly grow used to being referred to with, not your name, but a title translating to "older sister" in whatever language you happen to speak. Same goes vice versa btw, you will without doubt find yourself calling a girl or boy you met just moments ago your older sibling by the end of the night...at least in front of your parents.
But then starts the questioning, I don't know what it is but some of these Auntys...they just want to know EVERYTHING.
It's probably the competitive spirit, you can't have someone else's kid doing better than yours you know :/ (btw blogger needs smilies. now.)
They just talk and talk and talk, and you just stand there and smile and nod and try not to be obvious that you're actually on Twitter or Facebook, great time.
But aywho the Aunty's, there's the nice cool Auntys and then the Auntys that you just see and you just want to turn tail and run, or stomp over and give a talking to. I'm sure you've all met those people that just seem to assume that just because you're younger than them, all of a sudden they're the expert in anything and everything, even if you may have a bit more knowledge. You are, after all, just a kid.
Gosh those Auntys....
I mean the nice ones, like my friend's mothers, they're just so NICE, and motherly, and all....kind.
And then the ones....that aren't.
They're the one's with either the kids that are actually nice, but barely have any Indian friends because well...they kinda make you wanna walk over and scream, "I feel sorry for your children!"
But alot of the time, those Aunty's have the kids that you don't want to hang out with, because their superiority complex seems to have been passed on genetically. And that kid is the most difficult thing to be around.
Basically, Aunty's please check yourself. You ruin kid's lives.
